Best of the Best: Easter Eggs

Happy Easter! For some reason, I have been really into Easter eggs this year. The designs seem so much prettier and more creative than in years past. I stayed at school this year for Easter, and my one and only plan for the day (besides doing homework…) is dying eggs with friends. I’m sure they won’t end up one-tenth as adorable as these eggs, but a girl can dream…

Marnie With a Side of Shoshanna

I’ve had Girls on the brain lately. Catherine introduced me to the show early in its first season and I’ve been a loyal viewer since. I don’t love, or even really like, the show, but I feel compelled to watch. I found the first season to be an accurate portrayal of our strange generation. It was honest, raw, and realistic- it covered getting cut off, finding a job, moving into your first apartment, fighting with friends, starting relationships, trying to make ends meet, etc. The second season was quite strange and less realistic, but, for some reason, I still tuned in every Sunday night. I suppose I like the unglossy, realistic view of post-college life that so few shows offer.

It appears Deborah Lippmann is a fan of the show as well. She developed a seriously covetable collection of Girls-inspired nail polish. There are 4 shades: Hannah is “hapless hunter green,” Marnie is “prim and proper pink,” Jessa is “bohemian burgandy,” and Shoshanna is “virtuous and vivid violet.” I’m thrilled that my two favorite shades correspond with the characters I think I’m a mix of: Marnie and Shoshanna. Who would you be?

P.S. I love these Sh*t Shoshanna Says videos my roommate found.

Paloma

My dad and I knew we wanted a cocktail last Saturday night, but we couldn’t decide what we were in the mood for. When I looked in the fridge and saw the grapefruit flavored Pellegrino (prettiest cans ever), I was inspired to try out a recipe I had pinned earlier in the week: the Paloma. Turns out they’re refreshing and super easy to make. I was also excited that a) they’re green-ish AKA perfect for St. Patrick’s Day, and b) I actually made one of the 7,000+ things I’ve pinned!

Start by rimming your glass with salt. Do this by running a slice of lime around the rim of the glass and then rolling the rim on a plate of kosher salt. Fill the glass with ice. Add 1 part tequila, 3 parts grapefruit soda, and a squeeze of fresh lime. Mix thoroughly.

My dad’s verdict: an A+.

Last Week in Instagram: 3.18.2013

I spent a few days at home this past week on either end of my trip to the Dominican Republic. I ate lots of sushi, read a couple of books, and did some shopping with my mom. I headed back to school yesterday relaxed and ready to enjoy the next couple of months.

Picture Perfect: Spring Break 2013

Three of my best friends from school and I spent last week in the Dominican Republic. It was absolute paradise. Our daily schedule consisted of alternating between our poolside chaise lounges and the swim up bar, where we enjoyed many a piña colada. We slept, read, gossiped, swam, tanned, walked along the beach, and judged were entertained by the stereotypical spring break crew. It was perfect.
